Monitoring & Evaluation Workshop

CID, in consultation with MFAT and M&E experts, is hosting a 1-day Monitoring & Evaluation Workshop that will be held in Auckland and Wellington.

Purpose: Evaluative thinking and how to apply it
Outcomes: Implementing evaluative thinking, identifying strong design, quality evidence, and how best to capture local demand

The workshop will focus on evaluative thinking and how to apply it and will be informed by MFAT's new approach to MERL (Monitoring, Evaluation, Research & Learning).

It will be facilitated by Sandar Duckworth and Liz Smith from LITMUS, a leading social research, evaluation and design firm.

Sandar has over 20 years of evaluation experience in New Zealand and the Pacific. She has led MFAT and DFAT evaluations of the Regional Blindness Prevention Programme (Fred Hollows), Transparency International Pacific Institutional and Network Strengthening Programme, and Fiji Health Sector Support Programme. She has also worked with country counterparts in Tonga and Vanuatu for STI and HIV global reporting. She designed and conducted Essentials of Evaluative Thinking workshops to Fire and Emergency New Zealand decision-makers and practitioners.

Liz has over 25 years-experience leading long term strategic evaluations. She is leading the evaluation of Placed Based Initiatives (Social Investment Agency) the National Telehealth Service (Ministry of Health) and has completed evaluations for the Bowel Screening Pilot and the Alcohol and other Drug Treatment Court. Liz has also evaluated the Samoan In-Country Training Programme and the Government Agency Fund (MFAT) and developed STI and HIV prevention strategies for the Pacific Communities. She has also worked with country counterparts in Tuvalu for STI and HIV global reporting. She was Vice President of the Australasian Evaluation Society for five years 2016-2019.
